Santa Clara, Calif.- Santa Clara baseball announced its 2011 schedule this week as the team starts fall baseball activities. The Broncos non-conference schedule is highlighted with series against South Carolina, Minnesota, Cal-State Bakersfield, Cal Poly, and Brown University.
SCU opens up the season on the road in Columbia, South Carolina when it takes on the 2010 College World Series champions in a three-game series against the Gamecocks.
Santa Clara will play 29 home games at Stephen Schott Stadium in 2011. The first Bronco home game is against Albany (NY) on Fri., Feb. 25. Beginning on Fri., March 11, the Broncos will play 12 home games in 19 days with contests against Utah, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UC Davis, Minnesota and Brown.
SCU will take on several Bay Area opponents in its 2011 campaign. The Broncos battle with cross-town rival San Jose State in a three game series March 4-6, with the game on March 5th hosted at Schott Stadium. They will play Stanford on the road March 1 and defend their home field against the Cardinal April 19. SCU will continue their Bay Area series with a split pair of games against Cal, playing at Berkeley on March 8 and at home on May 3.
After being tested in non-conference games, the Broncos will open up WCC play at home against LMU on Fri., April 1. SCU also host two other WCC series at home against Gonzaga (4/29-5/1) and San Diego (5/20-5/22).
