Santa Clara University catcher Jim Wallace was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday after leading the Broncos to a 3-1 record over Sacramento State and Loyola Marymount.
The junior from Reno, Nev. went 9-for-15 (.562) on the week with three home runs, three doubles, seven runs scored, 11 RBI and a 1.312 slugging percentage. Wallace now leads the team by himself with 10 home runs on the season and is second on the team in batting average (.345), runs batted in (37), on base percentage (.426) and slugging percentage (.614).
Wallace went 3-for-4 with four RBI in Tuesday's win over Sac State, including his eighth home run of the season. In Saturday's 6-3 win over LMU, Wallace went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBI. In Sunday's 17-1 win in Los Angeles, Wallace went 3-for-4 with another home run and three more runs batted in.
He and his teammates will begin their final five home games of the season this week with four WCC Coast Division games at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Broncos will host Saint Mary's in a make-up game from a previous rainout Tuesday night at 6 p.m. before welcoming in the Pepperdine Waves for a three-game set.
