SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University baseball team takes its seven-game win streak and undefeated record to Spokane, Wash. for a key three-game West Coast Conference series at Gonzaga.
The first game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. with games on Sunday at 1 p.m. and Monday at 2 p.m. at Gonzaga's August / A.R.T. Stadium.
The Broncos are 9-15 on the season but are 6-0 in the WCC and in sole possession of first-place in the league's Coast Division. San Francisco is in second-place with a 3-3 league mark, while Gonzaga is in third with a 2-3 record. Pepperdine leads the West Division with a 5-1 league record.
"We certainly have some momentum right now," said Head Coach Mike Cummins. "We have played the last 10 games at home so it will be interesting to see how we can translate that momentum to road games."
Last weekend, Santa Clara claimed its fourth-straight series win over a WCC opponent dating back to last season with a three-game sweep of Loyola Marymount. The Broncos won a dramatic 3-2 decision in 10 innings to claim the sweep.
Following the Gonzaga series, the Broncos return to the road for a three-game series March 30 through April 1 at Saint Mary's.
Santa Clara returns home on April 6 for a key WCC series against pre-season league favorite Pepperdine. Friday's first game of the series is being promoted as "Take Me Out To The Ballgame Night." The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free In-N-Out Burger as well as Jamba Juice samples. The Santa Clara athletic department will also be celebrating National Student-Athlete Day as well as honor the 150th Anniversary of the University.
