SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Mission Harriers will debut this Saturday at the Johnny Mathis Invitational hosted by San Francisco State. Twelve men and five women are entered. After returning from spring break, the athletes are ready for their first competition of the season.

Last season, most of the Bronco runners set their seasonal bests in the 5K at the Mathis Invite. With 9 men and 2 women entered in the 5000, all are expected to set their PR's.

Last year, Andrea Gastelum led the women, finishing second in a time that was under 19 minutes. Michael Helms finished ahead of teammates Thomas Chapman, Benjamin Gauen and Ricky Brackett, but all four finished in times under 16 minutes.

This season, Helms will lead the same four as they will approach the 15-minute barrier. WCC Freshman of the Year Robin Bell and Milena Basile will take aim at running under 19 minutes.
