Cross Country Competes in Gator Invitational
The Santa Clara men's and women's cross country teams competed Friday in Golden Gate Park at the Gator Invite hosted by San Francisco State. In favorable conditions, both teams had solid performances. The women placed 5th of 13 teams and the men placed 6th of 16. Host SF State won the men's title and WCC rival USF won the women's title.

Bronco Harriers Run at adidas Notre Dame Invitational
With runners battling the toughest conditions all day, as temperatures dipped into the low 50’s with top gusts reaching 40 MPH or better, Santa Clara’s men’s cross country team finished 24th at the adidas Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. In addition to the rain and wind, due to severe rain in the area over the last week, the course was extremely wet, with soft spots throughout.

Turning It Up a Few Notches, Cross Country Teams Run in Oregon, Indiana This Weekend
The Santa Clara men’s and women’s cross country teams travel across state lines this weekend to compete. The Bronco men's and women's teams competed well at the Stanford Invitational on a hot day at the Stanford Golf Course. The SCU cross country teams officially started its season on a foggy morning in Golden Gate Park. The women's team finished in fifth place and the men were sixth at the USF Invitational. However, the team's won't run at full strength until the Stanford Invitational on September 24th.

SCU Places Record Number on 10th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll
With the conclusion of the 2010-11 academic year, the West Coast Conference is proud to announce the 10th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes those student-athletes that possess at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. A record number 122 Bronco student-athletes made the list, besting last year's mark of 118. Santa Clara had 21 on the Gold list, 21 on the Silver list and 80 on the Bronze list. Santa Clara's student-athletes recorded a school-best 3.14 GPA during the Spring 2011 quarter as well.

Recording the highest grade point average in Santa Clara history, Bronco student-athletes recorded a school record 3.14 gpa for the spring 2011 quarter. The previous high-water mark for the student-athletes one quarter gpa was 3.11 in the winter of 2009. In addition 92 student-athletes achieved a 3.5 GPA this quarter. Stephanie Wilson named Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American
Recent Santa Clara graduate and Bronco cross-country All-American Stephanie Wilson has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-American Second Team for cross country and track and field. Wilson is the only WCC female athlete to receive this honor. Wilson graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in English and an overall GPA of 3.904 on June 11.

Santa Clara University’s cross-country track and team continues to be known as one of the highest academically-performing athletic programs with two recently honored nationally. On Thursday, senior Stephanie Wilson was named Capital One All-American First-Team All-District. Wilson is also receiving the Saint Clare Medal at Santa Clara’s graduation on June 11, which is given "to the female graduate judged outstanding in academic performance, personal character, school activities, and constructive contribution to the University by the faculty and the provost."

Santa Clara’s women were third at the Doc Adams Invitational on Saturday with 68 points at UC Davis. Meghan McNamara finished in fourth place for the Broncos. The Bronco cross country teams now turn their sites to the NCAA West Region Championship on Sat., Nov. 13 in Eugene, Ore.

Harrier Men Third, Women Fourth at WCC Championship
The Santa Clara men finished third at the 2010 WCC Cross Country Championships in Crystal Springs, Calif. and the women were fourth on Saturday. It was the men’s highest finish since they were third in 2007 as they finished one point ahead of LMU with 96 points. Individually, Santa Clara saw three runners race to All-WCC honors with last year’s champion, Bronco Stephanie Wilson, finishing seventh.

Cross Country Hosts Bronco Invite Saturday
Hosting a field of 31 teams from seven states, the Bronco Invitational Cross Country meet on Sat., Oct. 16 is the biggest and brightest field in school history. The Bronco Invite, which is free to the public, will be run at Baylands Park in Santa Clara, Calif. and will include five WCC schools, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, Lamar, Chico State and a number of other Big West and WAC schools. It is the 2010 debut of Bronco cross country All-American Stephanie Wilson, the defending WCC champion. Two-time defending champion Long Beach State will also make a run at its third straight title.

Cross Country Runs at Stanford Invite
The Santa Clara men's and women's cross country teams made the short drive on Saturday morning to compete in the Stanford Invitational. It is one of the largest cross country races in the nation with over 50 Universities and over 2400 High School students racing during the day. Late Sept. Stanford Inv, weather is traditionally toastie and the 2010 version didn't disappoint as temperatures soared into the 90's during some of the races. The men were 13th and the women were 15th.

Youth Served as Cross Country Competes at UCR Invite
The Santa Clara men's and women's cross country teams made the trip down I-5 to UC Riverside for the annual UCR Cross Country Invitational this weekend. Facing tough competition on both sides, the men finished in seventh place with 25 teams competing and the women were 13th out of 24. Future WCC member BYU dominated the men's race and national power Arkansas easily won the women's competition.
