Santa Clara Cross Country Teams Have Solid Performance

DAVIS, Calif. - Santa Clara University's Mission Harriers had another solid performance on Saturday at the Aggie Invitational in Davis, Calif., as the men's team finished third out of 25 teams, while the women finished ninth out of 22 teams.
The men finished third in the 8,000 meter run behind only the host UC Davis and bay area competitor California. The men's team placed all of their runners in the top 60, including Thomas Chapman and Banjamin Gauen who finished 13th and 18th, respectively.
The women's squad finished ninth, placing all seven of their runners in the top-70. Jenny Smokey was the top finisher for Santa Clara in the 5,000 meter event, placing 22nd with a time of 19:01:90. Robin Bell was the next highest finisher for the Broncos, completing the race in a time of 19:34:10 and finishing 37th.
Both squads will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Pascoe, Washington to compete in the Big Cross Invitational. The Mission Harriers will then host the Bronco Invitational on October 6.
