The Santa Clara University men's novice crew participated in the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. last weekend and brought home the championship in the Men's Lightweight Novice Eight event.

The crew of Mike Byer, Will Kardas, Kyle Simpson, Jim Carlucci, Quentin Mylet, Juan Perez, Dan Kachmarik, Jon Schlunt, Tris Tom and Diego Avalos finished in first-place by nearly four seconds ahead of second-place Purdue. The Broncos completed the race in a time of 6:28.3.
