Santa Clara Women's Rowers Compete at Sacramento State

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's rowing team dropped its season-opening dual meeting Saturday morning against Sacramento State at the CSUS Aquatic Center. Sacramento State's varsity eight finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:53.1, defeating Santa Clara (7:51.1) by 58 seconds. The Hornets' second varsity eight finished second in the race with a time of 7:26.0. In the varsity four, the Hornets finished with a time of 7:52.9, nearly 15 seconds faster than Santa Clara (8:07.8). In the novice eight, the Hornets' first-place time was 7:26.8, followed by Santa Clara "A" (7:45.0) and Santa Clara "B" (8:14.0). In the novice four, Sacramento State (8:26.0) defeated Santa Clara by three seconds (8:29.0). The Broncos return to the water on Sunday, March 25, as they travel to Redwood Shores, Calif., to take on Stanford in a dual meet. Santa Clara vs. Sacramento State
