SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's crew dropped its first dual match of the Spring 2002 season to Sacramento State Saturday at the CSUS Aquatics Center.

Sacramento State's varsity eight finished the windy 2,000-meter course with a time of 7:06.4, followed by the Hornets' second varsity eight boat (7:19.3) and Santa Clara (7:46.5).

In the varsity four, the Hornets crossed the finish line with a time of 8:43.2, followed by Santa Clara "A" (8:53.0) and Santa Clara "B" (9:12.6). The Broncos (7:56.3) were victorious in the novice eight, beating the Hornets by 2.7 seconds (7:59.0).

Santa Clara will race again Sunday at Lake Natoma near Sacramento, taking on UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara.
