SANTA CLARA, Calif. - On a beautiful September day the Bronco Bench Foundation and Santa Clara University welcomed over 200 golfers to the 31st annual Bronco Bench Golf Classic. The event was held at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in south San Jose.

It was a day filled with bad golf, seeing long time friends and never-ending laughter. The Bronco Bench Golf Classic is one of the major fundraising events sponsored by the BBF, and raised close to $70,000 this year, which will help fund student-athlete scholarships. A special thanks to all of our sponsors, especially Heritage Bank of Commerce and Walt Kaczmarek, for their ongoing support.

The 2009-10 edition of the Bronco Bench Golf Classic honored the 1989 NCAA National Championship Men's Soccer team. Several members of that record-setting team were in attendance including current Head Men's Soccer Coach Cameron Rast and Associate Head Men's Soccer Coach Eric Yamamoto.

The evening culminated with a spirited live auction with bidding on trips to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a week in Lake Tahoe, a trip to the West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas, a lunch with the new President of Santa Clara, Father Michael Engh, tickets to The Presidents Club Golf Tournament and a `San Francisco Sports Package' that includes golf at the exclusive Lake Merced Golf Club and tickets to a San Francisco 49ers game.

Again, we thank everyone who helped make this a very successful event with special thanks to the golf tournament committee Rick Knauf, Hank Bataille, Mike Benham, Jim Caviglia, Wes Okumura, Charlie Dougherty, Rick Giorgetti, Jack Previte, And Schatzman, Liz Courter, Fred Smith and Kimarie Manfre for a job well done.

Your support of the Bronco Bench helps fund 31 student-athlete scholarships. We couldn't compete and win without your help. Thank you!
