30th Annual BBF Golf Classic

The Bronco Bench Foundation is pleased to announce that our friends at Heritage Bank of Commerce will once again be presenting the 30th Annual BBF Golf Classic at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club on Mon., Sept. 8, 2008. Also, returning this year and back by popular demand, will be Master of Ceremonies, Brent Jones ' 85.

After a great day on the links, Jones will be joined by a number of other legendary Broncos, coaches and student-athletes as we honor former SCU and 49er football coach Bill McPherson '54 for his contributions to and lifelong relationship with Santa Clara University.

The BBF Golf Classic provides a tremendous opportunity for Bronco fans to reunite with friends, classmates and former teammates, enjoy a day of good food and great golf on a gorgeous course, all while helping the Bronco Bench Foundation to provide financial support for student-athlete scholarships at Santa Clara University. For over 45 years, the Bronco Bench Foundation has been supporting Santa Clara's student-athletes and the BBF Golf Classic is an excellent way to kick-off their efforts for the 2008-2009 school year.

Last year's event witnessed over 180 golfers playing on all 27 of the course's holes. Their collective effort, helped to raise over $80,000 for athletic scholarships for Santa Clara's student-athletes. We hope that you will join us this year to ensure that we have more golfers, have more fun and ultimately raise more money for Santa Clara's student-athletes!

In addition to the many sponsors, volunteers, student-athletes and participants that make this day a great day to be a Bronco, we would like to particularly acknowledge the generosity of Dan Brunello of Le Boulanger and Gene Guglielmo '71 of Guglielmo Winery for their contributions to this very special BBF event. For the second year in a row, Le Boulanger will be providing our pre-round lunch, keeping us well nourished on the course, and Guglielmo Winery's fine wines will once again allow us to drink away the sorrows associated with every missed putt, errand shot and lost ball we had throughout the day.

The Bronco Bench Foundation would also like to recognize Walt Kaczmarek '74 for his assistance in securing Heritage Bank of Commerce's commitment as our event's title sponsor for the second year in a row. Thanks to the generosity of these and other donors, the Bronco Bench Foundation is able to provide roughly 33% of all of the athletic scholarship aid offered to Santa Clara's student-athletes.
