Mar 8, 2012 - Volleyball Volleyball's Schmidt Awarded NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship Santa Clara University senior volleyball player Tanya Schmidt was one of 29 female student-athletes awarded a prestigious one-time, nonrenewable $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship this week. Schmidt was named twice to the All-WCC team during her Bronco career, including first team in 2010. She was also named three times to the WCC All-Academic Team and twice to the Capital One Academic All-District All-American team. The team captain last fall, Schmidt was also named one of 30 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award this past fall. [more]

The Bronco Invite, which is free to the public, will be run at Baylands Park in Santa Clara, Calif. and will include five WCC schools, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, Lamar, Chico State and a number of other Big West and WAC schools. After a successful tennis season with the Broncos, Zaniewski has returned to her home country this summer for an internship and also to play. Dec 2, 2010 - Men's Basketball Basketball to Host UC Santa Barbara on Saturday Santa Clara, 4-3, hosts UC Santa Barbara, 3-3, on Sat., Dec. 4 at 7 pm before the Broncos take a week off for final exams. The Broncos played seven games in 15 days before having the last week off. Santa Clara, 79-68 winners over the Gauchos on the road last year, was led by Kevin Foster's 18 points before he broke his foot in the final minutes of the victory at the Thunderdome (see boxscore on page 3). Earlier this week the Broncos were ranked No. 25 in the preseason National Mid-Major Preseason Poll.
