Julie Juarez '07, formerly Julie Ryder, joined the Santa Clara Athletic Department in Aug. 2009 after serving as the starting goalkeeper for the SCU women's soccer team from 2003-06. During her tenure in the net, Juarez was named an All-American and helped the women's soccer team reach the 2004 NCAA Women's College Cup.
Juarez began her career in sports information as a student intern with SCU during the summer of 2006 and went on to become a media relations intern with the San Jose Sharks during the 2006-07 NHL season. She continues to serve on the Sharks game night media relations crew as well as the game night ice maintenance crew.
From Jan. 2008 to June 2009, Juarez was the Media Relations Coordinator for women's soccer, men's tennis, men's golf, men's gymnastics, and men's and women's crew at Stanford University. While at Stanford, Juarez acted as the head media relations contact for the 2008 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships, 2009 MPSF Men's Gymnastics Championships, and helped host several NCAA events in both women's soccer and men's tennis.
At Santa Clara, Juarez oversees women's soccer, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's tennis, and softball.
Juarez is a current member of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
She and her husband, Aaron, reside in Sunnyvale, Calif.
