Ben Campopiano enters his fourth year as Santa Clara’s Director of Baseball Operations in 2014. Campopiano has experience as a teacher, coach, and camp director. He was the Head Baseball Coach at Northgate High School (Walnut Creek, Calif.) in 2010 and 2011, where he led the team to the playoffs both years.
Prior to becoming the baseball coach at Northgate, Campopiano was an assistant coach there for five years. He also worked at Northgate as a social studies teacher, teaching Government, Economics, Psychology, and United States History. While at Northgate, Campopiano served as the school’s technology director, handling webmaster duties for the athletic and academic websites.
Campopiano founded and directed Bronco Baseball Academy in 2001 with his brother Jon Campopiano. The year-round baseball academy has helped thousands of Bay Area youth baseball players improve their skills and develop a love for the game.
Prior to becoming a full-time teacher and coach, Campopiano worked in the political industry. From 2004 to 2006 he worked in Washington, D.C., Boston, and San Francisco on the Presidential and Congressional elections. During his time working on political campaigns he organized community volunteers, registered citizens to vote, did large and small-donor fundraising, worked on improving voter turnout, and managed grassroots campaign operations.
Campopiano earned a Communication degree from Saint Mary’s College in 2003, and received his teaching credential from Chapman University in 2008.
