Director of Compliance/Student Services

Jeff Mitchell is in his third year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, and he also holds the position of sport administrator for the Bronco's baseball program.

Mitchell is responsible for coordinating the department's NCAA compliance program, including the administration of financial aid, the evaluation of student-athlete eligibility, and the monitoring of coaching activities during recruiting and playing seasons. He is also responsible for providing rules education and interpretations to the departmental staff as well as to other University personnel and representatives of athletics interests. His office is the primary contact for all NCAA related business including legal affairs and institutional control matters.

In 2001, Mitchell received a BA in sociology from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., where he was a four-year member of the Millsaps baseball team. After graduation, Mitchell was hired as the College's Director of Sports Information, where he served as the primary contact for 14 intercollegiate athletic teams. In addition to his duties as SID, Mitchell served as an assistant coach for the 2002-2003 Millsaps baseball team, which advanced to the NCAA Division III South Regional Tournament. Mitchell also earned an MBA from the renowned Millsaps College Else School of Management in May of 2003.

Mitchell's career in athletic administration was nurtured while in law school at the University of Mississippi School of Law, from which he earned a Juris Doctorate in May of 2006. While at Ole Miss, Mitchell served as a graduate assistant in the Department of Athletics as an assistant operations manager for the Ole Miss external relations office and also served as public address announcer for Ole Miss baseball, women's basketball, and volleyball. Along with those duties, he was the internal public address announcer for Ole Miss football games.

Mitchell is a current member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and a former member of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He is also a member of the American bar Association and the Mississippi Bar Association.

An award-winning writer, Mitchell is also an accomplished public address announcer. During the past 13 years, Mitchell has announced Division III football and basketball games in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Division I baseball in the SEC and WCC, Division I basketball in the SEC, PAC-10, and WCC, Division I soccer in the PAC-10 and WCC, Division I volleyball in the SEC and the WCC, and Division III NCAA Tournament games for basketball. Mitchell currently serves as the public address announcer for Santa Clara's men's basketball games.
