Matt King begins his first year at Santa Clara as the Sports Information Assistant in 2007. King's responsibilities include media relations for the Cross Country, Water Polo, Track and Field, Golf, and Softball teams as well as keeping up with the stats for the various sports. King is a recent graduate of Appalachian State University where he majored in journalism with a minor in English. Before joining Santa Clara he was in Boone, NC finishing his degree while interning with the Watauga Democrat. King has had numerous pieces published for the Democrat, as well as being published in the Cross Country Journal and a scholastic magazine. King played basketball, tennis and ran cross country in high school and continued in those and other sports in college. His father pitched in college and his brother, David, currently plays basketball for the defending Div. II national champions Barton College, as well as pitches for their baseball team. King's wide knowledge of all sports makes him a welcome addition to the Bronco team. |
