Update: Men's Basketball Announces Hotel Arrangements for Fans/Family For Vancouver Foreign Tour
While the men’s basketball team announced June 7 it will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia Sept. 5-10, 2011 on a foreign tour where it will play four games vs. Canadian universities, Thursday it announced hotel plans for the trip for fans. The team will play games on Sept. 6, 8, 9 and 10, 2011.

The 33rd Annual Bronco Bench Golf Classic at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club on Thurs., Sept. 8, 2011 : Celebrating 50 Years of Supporting Santa Clara Athletics!
Santa Clara student-athletes are living the dream. A dream brought to life by the original board of the Bronco Bench Foundation: Pat Malley, Leo Ruth, Ed Panelli, Jack Going, John McHenry, John Cottrell, Ed Bevilacqua, Sal Sanfilippo and Joseph Henderson. These men along with the charter members Victor Bruni, MG Del Mutolo, S. Campisi, Victor Corsiglia Sr, Edward Fellows, George Figone, John Felice, Michael Guerra, Victor LoBue, Sam Della Maggiore, Peter Mancuso, Louis Pasquinelli, Frank Pisano, Aaron Richards, Phil Sanflippo and Bernard Vogel JR, created the foundation for Santa Clara Athletics as we know it today. All of you who support the Bronco Bench continue that legacy. During the next 18 months we will be celebrating the history of the Bronco Bench and Santa Clara Athletics. As a part of that celebration we would like it if you shared your favorite memories or stories about Santa Clara athletics. Send us your favorite story and give us your permission to publish them so that we can share our wonderful history as we create our wonderful future. Broncos Put 12 on West Coast Conference 2011 Spring All-Academic Team
Santa Clara put 12 Spring Sports student-athletes on the West Coast Conference’s 2011 Spring All-Academic Team, including six on the first team.

SCU Places Record Number on 10th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll
With the conclusion of the 2010-11 academic year, the West Coast Conference is proud to announce the 10th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes those student-athletes that possess at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. A record number 122 Bronco student-athletes made the list, besting last year's mark of 118. Santa Clara had 21 on the Gold list, 21 on the Silver list and 80 on the Bronze list. Santa Clara's student-athletes recorded a school-best 3.14 GPA during the Spring 2011 quarter as well.

Bronco Student-Athletes Record School Record 3.14 GPA For Spring 2011 Quarter
Recording the highest grade point average in Santa Clara history, Bronco student-athletes recorded a school record 3.14 gpa for the spring 2011 quarter. The previous high-water mark for the student-athletes one quarter gpa was 3.11 in the winter of 2009. In addition 92 student-athletes achieved a 3.5 GPA this quarter. Santa Clara's student-athletes have achieved a 3.0 GPA or better 13 of the last 14 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative gpa for its student-athletes is 3.097.

Santa Clara Finishes as Runner-up in WCC Commissioner's Cup Race
Santa Clara finished as the runner-up overall for the 2010-11 West Coast Conference Commissioner’s Cup, awarded to the WCC institution garnering the most success during conference play. The men were runner-up to San Fransicso and the women finished fourth. Santa Clara won the Commissioner’s Cup in 2005 and ’07.

he Santa Clara University athletic department recently hosted its annual Senior Awards event on May 25, recognizing outstanding senior athletes and teams at the event. The Senior Awards date back to at least the 1970s.

Kelly Funeral Arrangements Announced
Ed Kelly ’39, who passed away on Sat., April 30 after a recent surgery, volunteered at Santa Clara for more than 29 years. It is only fitting his funeral mass will be held at the Mission Church on the Santa Clara University campus. In addition to funeral arrangements, the Bronco Bench Foundation announced Tuesday a scholarship fund has been set up in the name of Edward M Kelly and details follow below.

29-Year Bronco Volunteer Ed Kelly '39 Passes Away at the Age of 94; Condolence Cards Can be Sent to the SCU Athletic Department
Ed Kelly ’39 passed away late Sat., April 30 after a recent surgery. Kelly, 94, was surrounded by those who loved him. Kelly had been a volunteer at Santa Clara for more than 29 years.

Bronco Student-Athletes Post 3.0+ GPA for 12th time in 13 quarters
With almost one-third of the student-athletes posting a 3.5 or better, Santa Clara University's student-athletes posted a 3.047 grade point average (GPA) for the Winter 2011 quarter. Santa Clara's student-athletes have achieved a 3.0 GPA or better 12 of the last 13 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA for its student-athletes is 3.081. For the second straight quarter, the women's cross country team (right) led all teams with a 3.406 GPA for the Winter 2011 term – the exact same GPA it recorded for the Fall 2010 term as well.

Montoro Named Head Cross Country and Track Coach
After an extensive search, Santa Clara University announced on Wednesday Bronco associate head coach Felipe Montoro, in his seventh year with the program, has been promoted to head coach of the cross country and track programs at Santa Clara University as nine-year head coach Tom Service is retiring as of Dec. 15, 2010.

Athletics Department to host Oktoberfest
Come join the Santa Clara Athletic Department as they kick off the 10-11 seasons with the 6th Annual Oktoberfest. It will be held at the Gordon Biersch Brewery (not the downtown restaurant), located on 375 E. Taylor Street in San Jose on Friday, October 29th. The event is open to Alumni, Parents, Friends, Family and Supporters of the University and runs from 6:00 -10:00pm. All proceeds benefit Santa Clara Athletics.
