Join us Saturday night at the Bronco Bash!

The award-winning Bronco Bash is the premier event for the Ruff Riders and is a celebration of Bronco Spirit on campus. With the theme, "Proud to be a Bronco," the Bronco Bash is an event aimed at promoting school spirit through Santa Clara athletics. The Bash is also used as an opportunity to kick-off the men's and women's basketball seasons, two sports highly attended and anticipated by the Ruff Riders.

An event that is all inclusive and charges no admission fee, the Bronco Bash invites members of the SCU and local community to the Leavey Center on October 29th (after the SCU vs. Loyola Marymount volleyball match) to participate in a variety of events including -- sumo suit wrestling, a pie eating contest, relay races, competitive skits, a three-point shootout between the men's and women's teams and the singing of the fight song. Special raffles and competitions for prizes and giveaways, including a trip to the WCC Tournament, will be conducted. Contests include a half court shot for a chance to win winter quarter textbooks, team t-shirts, autographed sporting equipment, rally towels and "Go Broncos" signs among other things.

Making its debut will be the newly formed Bronco Pep Band, featuring arena favorites including "Wipe Out," "Land of 1000 Dances," and the SCU fight song, "Fight for Santa Clara." The band will add an extraordinary dimension to the event, something not seen on this campus for the last several years. The buzz in the arena will be electric.

As part of the SCU community at large, the Ruff Riders are also focused on the three C's advocated on campus. During the event, there will be a collection taken and all monies collected will be donated to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund in an effort to reach out in true Jesuit fashion.

The purpose of the event however, is to bring the SCU community together and to celebrate the spirit of Santa Clara University. Ruff Riders looks to build that support though Santa Clara Athletics. Last year's inaugural event was a rousing success garnering praise from the community including the "Bronco Values Award" given at the annual club award ceremony. The event drew roughly 500 students to Leavey last year; this year's Bash looks to double that number. The Leavey Center will be rocking on October 29th, as Bronco Spirit will be flying through the roof!
