SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Come out to the Leavey Center this Saturday afternoon for plenty of fun and festivities as Santa Clara Athletics helps celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day beginning at 12 noon!
Santa Clara University will be celebrating the 20th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day this Saturday, February 4, 2006 as the Santa Clara women's basketball team takes on the Portland Pilots in a 2 p.m. tip-off at the Leavey Center.
The Leavey Center doors will open at 12 noon Saturday afternoon and all children under the age of 14 will receive free admission to the basketball game and festivities. Pregame activities will include face painting, balloon art and a craft area where fans can create their own poster of their favorite Santa Clara teams and student-athletes.
Bucky the Bronco will also be a part of the action which also includes a free drawing and prizes for all fans to take part in.
In association with the National Girls and Women in Sports Coalition and the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative (BAWSI), Santa Clara Athletics supports this year's theme of "Count Me In."
There will be a postgame autograph session featuring SCU's 2005 WCC Champion and Final Four participant women's volleyball team as well as the women's basketball team and other female Bronco student-athletes.
