Santa Clara Scholar-Athletes of the Week (Oct. 14 - 20)

Amy Grabill and Erich Chen were named Santa Clara's Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

Amy Grabill

The senior from Los Gatos, Calif., has returned to the Broncos for her senior year following a year in which she studied abroad. This year Amy has appeared in 21 games for the Broncos, most of which have come in key serving situations for the Broncos, helping them to a 15-2 overall record, a 4-0 mark in the West Coast Conference and the No. 14 national ranking. Off the court she has also excelled, posting a 3.33 overall GPA in Studio Art.

Erich Chen

The junior from San Jose, Calif., had a terrific showing at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Fresno State this past weekend, winning the consolation singles bracket and teamed with Michael Bruggemann to finish as the doubles runners-up. His run to the doubles finals with Bruggemann included an upset of the top-seeded tandem from USD by an 8-3 score. Erich has also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 3.27 overall GPA in Computer Engineering.
