SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University and the Santa Clara Police Department have formed a promotional partnership that will provide all Police Activities League participants with opportunities to attend Bronco soccer matches and other sporting events.
"This relationship will really strengthen our efforts to connect more closely with the Santa Clara community," said Richard Kilwien, SCU's Associate Director of Athletics. "P.A.L. has a great reputation of providing outstanding athletic opportunities for kids in a positive, safe and sportsmanlike environment. We are really pleased to have the opportunity to offer its participants the opportunity to be involved with Bronco athletics and grow up with an appreciation for college athletics."
"We are really pleased to formalize our long-standing relationship with Santa Clara University athletics," said Officer Rich Peterson, the director of the Santa Clara P.A.L. program, which began in 1970 and encompasses nine programs and more than 2,500 participants. "Clearly, we have enjoyed a strong relationship with the University in the past. Now, we have the opportunity to increase the benefits for the kids who participate in P.A.L.-sponsored programs as well as provide them exposure to a high level of college athletics at one of the top educational institutions in the country."
Through a partnership with Coca-Cola, all P.A.L. soccer participants will receive a ticket to attend a game to either of the 2003 men's or women's adidas Classics, scheduled for Sept. 18-21 at Buck Shaw Stadium. The men's soccer team hosts George Washington, San Francisco and Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 18 and 20, while the women's team hosts Georgia, Notre Dame and Stanford on Sept. 19 and 21. Complete schedules are available by clicking here.
In addition to adidas Classic tickets, P.A.L. soccer registrants will receive a discount to join Bronco Kidz, the official club for young Bronco fans. Membership in Bronco Kidz provides a t-shirt, membership card, opportunities to purchase discount single game and season tickets and free admission into two athletic events each for the sports of men and women's soccer, men and women's basketball, baseball and volleyball.
