Rain Plays Havoc With Bronco Sporting Events

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Several Santa Clara University athletic events have been affected by the inclement weather that has moved into the Bay Area and is expected to remain for the weekend.

The Santa Clara vs. UC Riverside softball game scheduled for Friday afternoon has been cancelled. The game will not be rescheduled, according to school officials. Santa Clara's next scheduled contest is a noon Sunday doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara.

The Bronco women's tennis match against Nevada scheduled for Sunday at the Santa Clara University Tennis Center has been cancelled and is not expected to be rescheduled. The SCU women's tennis team is schedule to be in action at Cal Poly on Friday.

The baseball team's Friday game at Fresno State was postponed as well. The two teams have scheduled a doubleheader for Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. with a single game on Sunday. Plans could change again on Saturday due to the weather.

The men's tennis team is scheduled to face Fresno State on Saturday at the Santa Clara University Tennis Center. Should that match face weather issues, it will be moved to an indoor facility in Pleasanton.
